Finding Liamo
All hands on Dec

Naughty Pics

  • 7th March, 2005
Day 49 and the lads are having serious difficulty keeping the site up to date. Dec just arrived in Lhasa, Tibet and booked straight into a Tibetan run hotel for 2.5 Euro. Liamo came too. Lhasa is 3,700m above sea level and supposedly 1 in 20 people who get off the plane have to turn around and fly back to China again due to altitude sickness. The lads feared the team could come to a premature end at this point, what with Dec's feet planted firmly on the ground and Liam's head floating somewhere on Cloud 9.

Three lessons that we've picked up while travelling in China:
  • - Never touch or lick the bottom of your shoe. The consequences can be fatal.
  • - DVD's sometimes come in Chinese.
  • - Kids don't accidentally have holes in the arses of their pants. They're functional.

Well the lads have finally arrived in Irkutsk this morning (29th January) at 7:30am local time. That's 8 hours ahead of those of you in Ireland. The temperature is a chilly -23C. It followed a train journey from Moscow lasting 4 nights and 3 days. We shared our cabin with Sergi, a Russian body builder. He didn't have much English. Our Russian was pathetic but we'd as much as a laugh as you could expect in that situation. Soundest fella you could expect to meet.

  • 20th January, 2005
The trip has officially began as of 17th January, 2005. After a quick stopover in London for one night, we arrived in St. Petersburg on the afternoon of the 18th January. We've been sightseeing for the past couple of days and are heading to Moscow tonight - 21st January - on the 23:00 train. So far, we have lost: a toothbrush (Liam accidentally put it under a tap of poisonous St Petersburg water (all credit to the St Petersburg Water Authority) which can give you diarrohea), bottle of shower gel (possibly taken by room-mate who seemed to like Dec and wanted him to be his "Eve") and a lock for a bag (yes, it does belong to Dec!). At least once per day there is a panic about something going missing.
